Benjamin, I can't begin to describe the pride I feel today as you become a Bar Mitzvah. For 13 years I have been privileged to witness your enthusiasm, your creativity, your penchant for science, your love of learning, and your inimitable personality. Your grandmother said of you beginning when you were very small, "That boy is destined to go places", and I'm sure anyone who meets you would agree. You've been a handful to raise, but I have been amply rewarded. As I look at you today, "the day you become a man" in traditional religious sense, I'm filled with a mother's joy and pride. I am confident that you will be successful in college and beyond. May you make the most of the blessings and talents bestowed upon you.
